Hi, I’m Sonya, and I’m a crafty cottage witch.

Welcome to my blog, where I write about, well, just about anything that comes to mind. Common topics include cooking and crafts, writing and witchcraft, and everyday life with my family of oddballs.

I’ve been studying witchcraft for about fifteen years and have been writing even longer. Creating and creativity are some of the biggest pillars of crafting my dream life, and as I’ve grown older, that dream life image has grown clearer with each passing year. While I was never shy about the books I liked to read, it’s only in recent years that I’ve started owning the witch label and ignoring what anyone else might think. As a teenager, my insecurities were few and kept mostly to myself; when I wrote then, it was with a rawness and emotion that my style has lost over the years. My aim for this blog—and my writing as a whole—is to bring back that Livejournal/MySpace blog attitude I used to have and just write.

Most of my time is spent in the kitchen cooking up whatever I’m currently obsessed with, curled up indoors or out reading a book, or simply creating—a spell, a story, or another pair of socks. I almost always do these things with my sidekick/son, Finn, at my side.

Some of my favorite posts include:

  • comfort in creation, a post about knitting, baking, and using my creativity to get through the COVID-19 pandemic
  • pizza fridays, in which I talk about my family’s newest tradition of, well, making pizza on Fridays
  • alternate realities, a post where I talk about what I think my life would be like if I didn’t have my family

It's reminding me just how much I love texture in knitting. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it looks after all three colors are incorporated.
